This month, we’re spotlighting the Alamo Ranch area of San Antonio, Texas. This week, we’ll be exploring some of the dining and entertainment options available in this Northwest suburb.
Looking for Thai food? Yum Thai is beloved for its Red Curry, Shrimp Fried Rice and Pad Thai, as well as Custard Sticky Rice and Bubble Tea for dessert. Try Yum Thai and your tummy will be saying yum!
If you’re in more of a beer and burger mood, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse serves up delicious food with generous portions, plus their own variety of brews. Kids are also welcome here, so it’s a great place to enjoy tasty beer and a meal with your family.
Running short on time and need to drive through to get your food? There are a variety of fast food restaurants in the area, including Arby’s and Burger King. For quick, healthy food worth getting out of the car for, Freebirds is also here serving up their huge made-to-order burritos.
For entertainment, you can wear the kids out at Pee Wee Bees, while you relax and watch them play. This indoor play palace has bounce houses for older kids and lots of toys for toddlers and even babies! There are also refreshments available for purchase or you can bring your own so you can make a day of it.
For entertainment oriented more towards grown-ups, The 54th Street Bar and Grill boasts a huge menu of both food and drinks, and is great for large parties. It’s popular as a destination for friends or an after work happy hour. Cheers!

This month we are going to be providing the inside scoop on Alamo Ranch, located in the rolling hills of Northwest San Antonio, Texas. This area is the largest and most unique master-planned community in San Antonio and provides the beauty of a suburban Hill Country feel while also being convenient to major freeways, office parks, shopping, dining and entertainment.
Construction in Alamo Ranch began in 2006, so apartments in the area are quite new. It’s location only 22 miles from downtown San Antonio makes it convenient for commuters. The area is popular with families, especially military families because of its close proximity to Lackland Air Force Base. Sea World is also only about five minutes away and Fiesta Texas is 15 minutes away. So there’s something for everyone in Alamo Ranch!

This month we’re spotlighting Leander, a suburb on the north side of Austin. This week we’ll be exploring employers in and near this rapidly growing area.
Dennis Steel is the third largest steel fabrication and erection subcontractor in the state. Their five acre facility located in Leander houses their main office, fabrication shop, erection fleet, and on-site maintenance department and employs around 100 people.
Suncoast Post-Tension has a branch office in Leander and is the number one supplier in the United States of post-tensioning materials for buildings and foundations. They employ over 950 people across the country. Their 15,000 square foot Leander facility sits on 3.5 acres and employs over 40 people.
The Gateway at Leander is a 41 acre shopping center that is anchored by Kohl’s and Lowe’s. The Gateway offers many retail positions at a variety of stores and is conveniently located just off 183 near Crystal Falls Parkway.

All this month, we’re spotlighting the Stone Oak neighborhood of San Antonio, Texas. This week we’ll be exploring the apartment options in this luxury community.
Montecristo is a gated community with easy access to 1604 and 281. It is also within walking distance of many coffee shops, restaurants and shopping. All this month we’re spotlighting the Stone Oak Neighborhood of San Antonio, Texas. This week we’ll be discussing the schools and employers in this far North Central suburb.
Ronald Reagan High School is ranked Recognized by the TEA and educates nearly 3,000 students. Their mascot is the Rattler and their school colors are green, silver and black. Barbara Bush Middle School is ranked exemplary and their mascot is the Bulldog. Stone Oak elementaries include Wilderness Oak Elementary, Hardy Oak Elementary, Stone Oak Elementary, and Canyon Ridge Elementary. All the elementaries are ranked by the TEA as Exemplary, with the exception of Canyon Ridge, which is ranked Recognized.
Employers near Stone Oak include Valero Energy Corporation, which has their corporate headquarters just a 20 minute drive away. This Fortune 500 company is the world’s largest independent petroleum refiner and marketer. Valero ranked number one on Fortune Magazine’s Best Big Companies to work for list for two consecutive years. Valero employees donate hundreds of thousands of hours to volunteer for many community projects in San Antonio. Valero and its employees also donate millions of dollars to local charities such as the United Way.
Clear Channel Communications is another corporate giant that has their headquarters less than a 20 minute commute from Stone Oak. Clear Channel was founded in San Antonio in 1972 with the purchase of a single radio station. It now has both the radio division and an outdoor advertising division that focuses on billboards and together they employ over 20,000 people around the globe. Clear Channel’s 850 stations reach more than 110 million listeners weekly and make it the largest radio station owner in the country in both number of stations and revenue.

This month we’re spotlighting Leander, a suburb on the north side of Austin, Texas. This week we’ll be talking about the schools in Leander.
Leander ISD is a TEA Recognized school district that has 37 schools within the 200 square miles it services. It educates over 34,000 students and is one of the fastest growing districts in the state.
Leander High School has an International Baccalaureate program and its school colors are blue, red and white. Its mascots are Leo the Lion and Leah the Lionness and it has active, thriving Fine Arts, Choir and Band programs. It also has a robust sports program and is located on Bagdad Rd. The other high school in Leander is Rouse High, which was opened in 2008 to relieve overcrowding at Leander High School.
Leander’s Middle Schools include Wiley Middle School, Leander Middle School, Henry Middle School, Running Brushy Middle School, Cedar Park Middle School, and Canyon Ridge Middle school. All of these campuses are ranked Recognized by the TEA, with the exception of Canyon Ridge, which is ranked as exemplary.
Leander ISD elementaries include Pleasant Hill Elementary School, Rutledge Elementary School, Whitestone Elementary School, Jim Plain Elementary School, Block House Creek Elementary School, and Winkley Elementary School. Most of these campuses are ranked Recognized by the TEA.
