This month, we’re exploring the Shavano Park neighborhood of San Antonio, Texas. This week, we’ll be taking a look at the dining and entertainment options available in this little city within a city.
Paesanos 1604 serves up innovative Italian dishes in a setting that’s “Hill Country Meets Tuscan Villa”. Famous for their Shrimp Paesano, they also get high marks for their Red Snapper, Mushroom Ravioli, and Braised Veal. Regulars also praise the service for being attentive and making you feel comfortable.
Frederick’s Bistro is as renowned for their atmosphere as for their food. Serving up French food, sort of a rarity in the middle of Texas, Frederick’s dishes may cost a little bit more, but diners report it is well worth it. Frederick’s never lets you forget where you are though, dishes like their Escargot with Chorizo (!) marry the French with the Texas. Viva La Texas!
The Rose Theatre Company is a great choice if you are near Shavano Park and want some entertainment. In addition to regular nightly theatre, ranging from Steel Magnolias to 60’s Rock Musicals, The Rose also offers acting classes for children and adults and birthday parties. There’s a little something for everyone at the Rose.
502 Bar is a great place for drinks with friends or coworkers. They’ve got an extensive drink menu and a cozy environment for hanging out and and relaxing.
