The University of Texas was was ranked among the top public colleges in the U.S. by The Business Journals, The Austin Business Journal reports.
UT came in at number 12 on the list. The University of Michigan was ranked at number one. UT ranked higher than any other Texas schools on the list. Texas A&M nabbed the number 20 spot, UT Dallas was 46, Texas Tech was 177, Texas State ranked 132, the University of Houston was 136 and the University of North Texas came in at 146. The list analyzed a total of 484 public universities.
The goal of the analysis was to find schools that are giving top-notch educations to their students. UT's high ranking was due to its highly selective 40.2 percent admission rate, 93 percent retention rate, 50.9 percent 4 year graduation rate, and 79.45 6 year graduation rate.
Where UT was docked was in the areas of cost and diversity, earning just 3 start out of 5 for cost, and 3 out of 5 for diversity.
