The Lone Star State shined as a top state for first-time homebuyers and three cities in Texas ranked in the SmartAsset top 10 list. The data concluded that buyers preferred locations with stable housing markets and low market volatility, much like San Antonio. San Antonio ranked 6th for home affordability and mortgage accessibility for first-time homebuyers. Much of their ranking weighed on the fact that in the past five years the city has only experienced a few declines in the home price index and has remained attainable.

Across the country potential homeowners are finding themselves with fewer options and higher price ranges. Today nationwide home values are on the rise and inventory is down, except for in Texas markets.
According to the national housing experts at Zillow, there are 3% fewer homes on the market today than one year ago and home values have risen 6%. Rent rates have followed the upward trend and risen on the average 1%. Texas, however, is the only state experiencing a rise in home inventory and also home values. In San Antonio, there are 16.4% more homes on the market and they are worth 6% more than they were this time last year. With less inventory to choose from, it will make for a very competitive shopping season in most states except for Texas.
We feel it is important to stay on top of market trends when it comes to real estate. Our apartment finders are experts in working with renters who are struggling with the rent versus buy dilemma. Give us a call at Apartments Now and let our apartment locators find you the perfect home for you and your budget.

If you have children then living with toys is an unavoidable fixture of your apartment. If you have recently found yourself fighting the piles of wooden blocks and plastic farm animals, then here are a few tips sure help get the mass of games and legos all under control.
Tip 1: Designate toy bins.
Find a basket or container for the toys and make it their permanent home. Get creative with your storage solutions and utilize under bed storage, storage ottomans, or even spice racks.
Tip 2: Main living spaces are not off limits.
Let’s face it, keeping toys hidden in the bedrooms is often unrealistic. Try blending them into the room. Add a shelf, some cute wicker baskets to the corner of the room, or just designating a section of the room to the toys - trust me it is better than stepping on them in the dark of night.
Tip 3: Less is more.
Having a home for everything, versus just stacking them up in the corner of the kitchen, will make for easier clean up. Spend 10 minutes a day cleaning up toys and do not let it pile up. If you run out of space them make more space and buy more containers, or start thinking about getting rid of stuff.
